ABOUT
Jessica Gregory is an independent archival researcher and historian. She worked in heritage institutions for 15 years. She has an extensive background working in archives and education qualifications within cultural theory and history.
She was a curatorial and project officer in the Modern Archives and Manuscripts department of the British Library from 2018-2024. Here, she specialised in English-language manuscripts and archives dating from 1600 to 1950, working in archival management, cataloguing, research and curation. She curated the exhibition, Queer Lives in Literature, and wrote archive history pieces for the BL blog, Untold Lives.
She is studying for a history PhD at the University of Kent in partnership with the National Archives. She is exploring British state archives in order to investigate the history of indecency laws, advertising and sex-related goods in the early 20th century. She has further specialisms in modern British history, queer and gender histories, sex and sexuality studies, medical humanities, censorship studies and history of art.
She has also written history content for the British Library and the National Archives. Presented on the British Library’s Curators on Camera and been a guest on their Anything but Silent podcast. She wrote book reviews for Sabotage Reviews and Storgy, and was reviews editor for Inky Needles journal.
